Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of local-wisdom–based character education at the junior secondary school level through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Ten selected articles published within the last five years were examined to identify strategies, implementation practices, and their impact on shaping students’ character. The findings show that the integration of local cultural values into the planning and implementation of learning strengthens students’ religious, nationalistic, disciplined, collaborative, and social-care character. The use of digital media rooted in local wisdom, such as flipbooks, has also been proven to enhance learning effectiveness and students’ understanding of character values. In addition, the application of management models that combine national and local values results in stronger character internalization, as reflected in consistently high evaluation outcomes. These findings affirm that local-wisdom–based character education management is a strategic and relevant approach to developing a generation with strong Indonesian identity and character. This study recommends strengthening collaboration among schools, families, communities, and the government to support sustainable implementation.
