Model Pendidikan Karakter di Pesantren Modern: Analisis Systematic Literature Review terhadap Pendekatan Nilai, Disiplin, dan Keteladanan

This study aims to analyze the model of character education in modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of scholarly publications from 2015 to 2025. The research focuses on three core approaches that underpin character education systems in modern pesantren: value-based, discipline-based, and exemplary (role-model) approaches. Data were collected from 35 nationally and internationally indexed articles, selected using inclusion criteria based on thematic relevance, methodology, and institutional context. The findings reveal that character education in modern pesantren represents an integrative and continuous personality formation system. The value-based approach provides the moral and spiritual foundation, the discipline-based approach functions as behavioral habituation, and the exemplary approach reinforces affective aspects through the role models of kiai, teachers, and senior students. These three approaches interact in a holistic cycle of value internalization that shapes the students’ moral character in daily life. This study concludes that the modern pesantren model offers a relevant and contextual framework for integrating character education into formal schooling systems to strengthen morality, integrity, and independence among learners in the modern era.
